Who are we?
Sambalpuri Fab, an artisan enterprise started by Smt. Ranjita Meher and Shri Tevadhar Meher (couple) in April 2021. This initiative took birth during the COVID-19 pandemic after witnessing the problems faced by the poor weavers of the region in marketing their products so produced. They were keen on supporting the marketing of sambalpuri handloom tie & dye (ikat) products through the new age marketing, online e-commerce to globalize the Sambalpuri Ikat. It is an effort towards GLOBALISATION OF HANDLOOM IKAT under "MAKE IN INDIA" campaign launched by the honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. To make this possible, their son, Ashish Kumar Meher, a graduate in Computer Science and Engineering from National Institute of Technology Rourkela developed this ecommerce platform including the accounting solution and trained us about the technical knowhows and continues to do so.
Ranjita grew up in a family, where Sambalpuri Ikat craft has been practised for generations. She learnt the skills of design, tie & dye, and weaving from her National Awardee brother Shri Krushna Chandra Meher. Tevadhar Meher has been in textile sector for last 25 years and has a vast experience in this field. He recently resigned from his job to start this new venture with his wife.
Through this venture, Sambalpuri Fab is supporting more than 100 weavers by marketing their products through various online modes.
